The archival source
An Indonesian government repository lists the monograph on traditional kelong construction ceremonies as a 1991 publication. Some secondary accounts use 1992; compare the catalogue and the physical or digitised edition before finalising a citation.
Ethnographic value
The monograph helps investigate historical knowledge, social practices and cultural meanings at the time recorded. It cannot establish that every village still follows the same customs in 2026.
Critical reading
Examine interview dates, locations, named contributors when available, and social changes. Obtain consent and community review for new recordings and public retellings.

What is actually supported by local sources, and what still requires direct investigation?
